			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In these challenging economic times it important that the business community of Owen Sound and Area co-operate in promoting and marketing Owen Sound to attract and keep consumers and tourists.</p>
<p>With this goal in mind a number of businesses and local government organizations are teaming up to launch a regional marketing campaign to market Owen Sound and Area to tourists and residents of Grey and Bruce.  The Owen Sound Downtown Improvement Area, Heritage Place Shopping Centre, Bayshore Broadcasting, City of Owen Sound Economic Development and Tourism, and the Events Planner for the City of Owen Sound have come to the table to participate in the exciting venture and are awaiting the approval of a few others.   We are calling it the Around the Sound Marketing Alliance<em> (Eat, shop, play and stay in Owen Sound &amp; Area)</em>.</p>
<p>We are pooling our resources to promote the wide range of accommodation, attractions, food, shopping and entertainment that is available in Owen Sound. Our objective is simple: <em>attract people to Owen Sound and encourage them to stay as long as we can, by using a radio campaign and small brochure. </em>Participating businesses will be promoted by being listed as a sponsor.</p>
<p>We are very excited about this opportunity and invite you to join this marketing alliance. We are asking for $1000-$2000. As a participating sponsor your business will be linked to a radio campaign targeting the peak summer months for all of Grey and Bruce and beyond.</p>
<p>We would like the opportunity to meet with you to discuss this opportunity and your participation.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Joint Media Release:  Owen Sound Businesses and Organizations Team Up To Market Owen Sound</p>
<p>Heritage Place Shopping Centre, the Downtown Improvement Area (DIA), Wal-Mart, Bayshore Broadcasting, and Owen Sound Economic Development launch a joint marketing campaign to attract tourists to Owen Sound during the peak summer months.<span id="more-11"></span></p>
<p>The joint marketing effort kicks off June 26th with a radio campaignthroughout Grey and Bruce counties. All businesses in Owen Sound are expected to benefit from the increased focus on area attractions.</p>
<p>Andrea Fisher of Heritage Place Shopping Centre says “Our objective is to raise awareness of the many attractions and shopping opportunities in Owen Sound whether its shopping, entertainment, recreation or special events – it all brings people to the City.’</p>
<p>Members of the Downtown Improvement Area (DIA) are also excited about the new alliance. “All businesses and attractions benefit whenever a tourist or Grey and Bruce resident makes a trip to Owen Sound, for whatever reason,’ says Irwin Seidman, manager of the DIA.</p>
<p>The new initiative will start with a radio campaign and plans for next year are underway to include more businesses and marketing avenues. ‘Owen Sound is a wonderful community that has so much to offer with its attractions, services and shopping. That includes the unique shops and services downtown, at Heritage Place Shopping Centre and the other larger national retailers – Owen Sound has it all.’ says Lloyd Elliott, Manager of Wal-Mart.</p>
<p>Steve Furness, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism feels this is just the start and credits these businesses and the D.I.A. with their positive and cooperative attitude. ‘The common goal is to be successful and by working together we all win.’</p>
