Joint Media Release: Owen Sound Businesses and Organizations Team Up To Market Owen Sound
Heritage Place Shopping Centre, the Downtown Improvement Area (DIA), Wal-Mart, Bayshore Broadcasting, and Owen Sound Economic Development launch a joint marketing campaign to attract tourists to Owen Sound during the peak summer months.
The joint marketing effort kicks off June 26th with a radio campaignthroughout Grey and Bruce counties. All businesses in Owen Sound are expected to benefit from the increased focus on area attractions.
Andrea Fisher of Heritage Place Shopping Centre says “Our objective is to raise awareness of the many attractions and shopping opportunities in Owen Sound whether its shopping, entertainment, recreation or special events – it all brings people to the City.’
Members of the Downtown Improvement Area (DIA) are also excited about the new alliance. “All businesses and attractions benefit whenever a tourist or Grey and Bruce resident makes a trip to Owen Sound, for whatever reason,’ says Irwin Seidman, manager of the DIA.
The new initiative will start with a radio campaign and plans for next year are underway to include more businesses and marketing avenues. ‘Owen Sound is a wonderful community that has so much to offer with its attractions, services and shopping. That includes the unique shops and services downtown, at Heritage Place Shopping Centre and the other larger national retailers – Owen Sound has it all.’ says Lloyd Elliott, Manager of Wal-Mart.
Steve Furness, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism feels this is just the start and credits these businesses and the D.I.A. with their positive and cooperative attitude. ‘The common goal is to be successful and by working together we all win.’
